Topic: Workshop for Standard Three Teachers: Problem-Based Learning
Description: To enhance the capacity of teachers in the use of varied strategies for curriculum implementation. Problem-Based Learning approaches will enable the use of real-world problems to promote student learning of concepts and principles and allow for the development of 21st century skills and allow for the hosting of the School’s Science and Innovation Fair.
Objectives:
- Examine the role of PBL in the realization of goals as identified in national policies.
- Examine the role of PBL in teaching and learning.
- Explore PBL as an effective teaching and assessment approach.
- Explore the integration of PBL and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) methodologies.
- Create examples of the application of PBL in classroom practice.

Specific Instructions: Each participant will be required to bring the following to the workshop: a copy of the National Primary School Curriculum document for the levels Infant One to Standard Five as well as the Simple Machines Kit previously provided to each school, if available.
