Topic: PEARL Teacher Training, Session 1 – Programme Overview and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)

Description: First of three Tier I instrument training sessions for teachers in the sampled pilot institutions, delivered by education district cluster across the two-week window. Covers the PEARL screening model and tiered pathway, the teacher’s role in the observation window, and completion of the teacher-rated SDQ including the impact supplement.

Objectives:

Teachers will be able to:

(1) describe the PEARL screening cycle and the Tier I to Tier III pathway;

(2) complete the SDQ accurately, including reverse-scored items;

(3) recognise and avoid common rating errors;

(4) state when to raise a concern outside the screening cycle, including safeguarding indicators that trigger the child protection protocol immediately.

Target Audience: ECCE Administrators and ECCE Teachers, Infant Year I teachers and Infant Year II teachers, PEARL SAMPLE: 177 pilot institutions
